Why the scalp gets greasy

A greasy, itchy, flaky scalp even after washing

  • I use hairspray every day and one wash never feels clean.

  • I wash at night and by morning my scalp is greasy.

  • My scalp itches and I scratch off small white flakes.

Regular washing does not lift all the dead skin and product residue

Excess oil, sweat, hairspray and shampoo residue build up into a film on the scalp. The scalp turns greasy again quickly and itches more easily.

The scrub contains salt grains and is massaged into the wet scalp before washing to lift that film. The description on the tube reads: helps exfoliate the scalp and remove dandruff, excess sebum and impurities, leaving the scalp clean, refreshed and less greasy.

Before you order

Who it suits, who should not use it

  1. Suitable

A scalp that gets greasy fast, with hairspray build-up

Use before washing to lift the film, then shampoo as usual.

  2. Suitable for light flakes

    Small, dry flakes

Gentle massage helps lift clinging flakes. Thick, patchy flakes or a very red, itchy scalp should be seen by a doctor.

  3. Consider

    A thin, easily sensitised scalp

Massage very gently and use it less often. Stop if it stings.

  4. Do not use

    A scratched or irritated scalp

The brand says not to use it in this case. Salt grains would make damaged skin sting more.

How often should I use it?

Before. Massage into the wet scalp, rinse, then shampoo as usual.
