A sunscreen that works has to survive sweat and humidity all day — which is exactly what stops it rinsing away with water and a face wash.
What remains sits on the skin overnight, mixed with the day's oil and dust. This is one of the common causes of congestion across the forehead and chin in people who wear no make-up at all.
Micellar water works differently from a cleanser: micelles bind to oil and carry it off, so it lifts what water cannot. This bottle states pH 5.5 and is usable on eyes and lips.

The order here is not flexible: remove first, cleanse second. Reverse it and the cleanser is carrying work it cannot do.
Morning

- Hold it in place for a few secondsEspecially on eyes and lips. Let the make-up soften before you wipe — wiping straight away is scrubbing.
- Wipe once, in one directionNo back and forth. Use a fresh pad if colour still comes away.
- Follow with the cleanserNever skipThis takes the remaining micelle residue and the excess oil.
If your eyes sting, it is usually from wiping before the make-up has softened rather than from the product. Hold the pad in place and count to five first.
How to use
Two steps, evenings only

Step 1
Saturate a cotton pad
Wipe across the face, paying attention to the sides of the nose, the eye area and under the lip — the narrow places where residue is left behind.
Step 2
Then wash with the cleanser
Micellar water does not replace the wash step. Skip it and the remaining residue stays on the skin.
Patch-test on the neck and watch for 30–45 minutes before using it on the whole face. Do not rub hard: hand pressure does more harm than any ingredient in the bottle.
